Thomas R. Kane

Age 55, of Union Grove passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at Autumn Lake Rehab in Greenfield, WI. Thomas was born July 4, 1963 to Thomas and Martha Kane-Wittmann in Festus, Missouri. His early life was spent in Waukegan, IL where he graduated from Waukegan East High School. Following high school, he attended the College of Lake County. On December 22, 1991 was united in marriage to De Ann Stevens in Park City, IL. Following their marriage, they resided in Park City, IL. De Ann passed away July 28, 2002. Thomas resided in Union Grove the past 30 years. He was employed at Cambridge Pharmaceuticals and had served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years.

Thomas enjoyed the outdoors: he was an avid camper and fisherman, enjoyed being around animals and building models. For many years Thomas coached baseball in the Union Grove Leagues. Thomas was also a lifetime fan of the Chicago Bears and the Cubs.


He is survived by his mother, Martha, children: Thomas Kane, Andrew Kane, Nicholas (Renee) Harvey, Kristin (Jason) Spaid, and a grandchild Hadley Harvey. He is further survived by his siblings: Stacy Wittmann, Kathleen Wittmann-Carsten, Michael (Sandy) Wittmann, Lynda (Kevin) Wittmann-Sullivan, Jeffrey (Merry) Wittmann and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, wife and stepfather Robert Wittmann Jr.

The family has suggested that memorials in honor of Thomas, be made to the American Cancer Society.

Thomas’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at Aurora St. Luke’s and to the nurses and staff of Autumn Lake Rehab and Legacy Hospice for all their care and compassion.

A burial service for Thomas will take place on Monday, June 17 at 2:00pm at Union Grove Memorial Cemetery.
