Obituary for Daniel A. Coy

Daniel A. Coy, 95, of Addison, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, Illinois.

Born on May 15, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of August and Emily (nee Kessy) Coy. He spent his early life in Chicago where he graduated from Carl Schurz High School.

On April 14, 1951, he was united in marriage to Nina Ewert. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2014. On September 25, 1965 in Chicago, he was united in marriage to Narcissa Lang. They moved to Addison in 1965. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2007. For 40 years Daniel worked as a computer programmer for Ekco Housewares. He also served in the Army and worked in Washington, D.C. at the Pentagon doing strength accounting. As a child, he attended St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Chicago and as an adult he attended First Baptist Church in Addison, and later he attended Evangel Church in Hanover Park. Daniel loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing with his son and camping with his wife and daughters. He loved all sports and was the world’s greatest Cubs fan.

Daniel is survived by his children, Keith (Pamela Counter) Coy, Kimberly (Chuck) Burkett, Rebecca (Bradley) Cleghorn and Catherine (Walter) Mondro; and grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew, Laura, Haley, Jenna and Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives and siblings, LaVerne and Curt.

Memorial contributions may be made to Evangel Church in Hanover Park, Illinois.

Daniel will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery in Burlington, Wisconsin on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
