Age 94, from the town of Paris passed away June 24, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Hospital. LaVerne was born December 15, 1917 to Leo and Katherine (nee May) Fonk in Kenosha. She spent her early life and was educated in Kenosha County. On August 23, 1947 she was united in marriage to the late John G. Sekey at St. John’s Catholic Church in Paris Township, where she was a lifetime resident. LaVerne was a homemaker, staying home to raise her family then later worked as a cook for St. John’s Catholic School in Paris. She was a member of St. John’s Church and the Christian Mother’s Society of Paris Township. LaVerne enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
LaVerne is survived by her children: John (Janice) Sekey of Burlington, Ronald Sekey of Crivitz, Gerald Sekey of Coleman and JoAnn (Douglas) Puser of Wausaukee, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a sister Mildred Haase of Kenosha, LaVerne is further survived by a daughter-in-law Delores “Jill” Sekey and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, daughter –in-law Vicki Sekey and her brothers Glenn and Victor Fonk.
Visitation: Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 27th from 4:00 until 7:00PM at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home. A vigil service will take place at 7:00PM Wednesday.
Service: A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church on Thursday, June 28th at 11:00AM with Reverend Russell Arnett officiating.
Cemetery: Burial will follow at St. John’s Parish Cemetery. |
